When you run the redline everywhere you go on the 250 and feel comfortable , it might be time to move up before you blow it up.

you have to remember that sitting on an RR bike is going to feel much different from the ex250. the 250 is more of a standard-sport hybrid. now a bike like the sv650 or kawa 600zzr is more similar to the 250 because the ergonomics are such that it's more "touring" friendly.

i went from a 250 to riding a "R" bike and I had more fun on the 250 then i did on the "R" bike. But when i got back on the 250 i almost dropped it because i got so used to the "R" bike feel.. wasnt used to actually using the throttle to take off slow from a standstill

so could i have gotten away with starting on a 600 zzr? cause my concern was having the bike get away from me and control which was my reason for starting out slow and small

nah i'm not saying that at all...just that certain "street bikes" have similar ergonomics (see ride position) as the ninja 250. not all street bikes have the super aggressive stance.

just stick to the ninja 250 for a while...take that thing everywhere...around slow roads, highway (if you're ready), in the rain, whatever you can to learn the bike.

i've been on my 250 for 9 months and i love it! sure it's a lil small for me..the styling is dated...but the pickup is decent compared to cars, and the handling is very nice and light (a good thing to prepare you for the sharper steering of the bigger bikes).

i find myself always learning how to take corners a bit faster than the time before. i am a big advocate of learning the slow way. i don't try to take ANY turn faster than "normal" speed. once i get that down i ever-so-slowly bring the speed up as my confidence rises and road conditions allow.

I'm getting my first bike as well this weekend, and it's a 250 Ninja also. Give me a month or two, and I'm definitely down for an all-250 ride!
