General Question

hey guys I have a question...I use my bike for commuting purposes and my tire has worn down pretty quick in the middle area of the tire...I was wondering if there were any suggestions as to lengthening the life of tire in oreder to avoid having to buy new tires so quickly??

Dual compound tires that are harder in the center will give you the best mileage like michelin 2ct or dunlop roadsmart but if you have a 1k usually the best youll get is 4k on the rear.
At least thats what I get but I haul most the time.
a 600 should get beta mileage

Depends on how hard you ride your bike, but newer tires nowadays are getting better milage.

You can search Michelin Pilot Road 3 and you'll find a lot of good results on it. Houston asphalt isn't very tire friendly either, but you'll get good milage on these tires.

Just purchased a the PR3 for my front. I'm running the old Power 2CT on the back, but as soon as that goes bad, I'll be putting on PR3 on the back as well.

Make sure you run the pressures at the higher end of recommended, to prolong life. Reduce psi for twisty rides, but be sure to increase it again for slabbing.

I've run a set of Pilot Road 2's 10k miles and they still weren't flat in the middle. Kept the pressure up though, mainly commuting.

I've got another PR2 rear. I love the Pilot Road line, I can't afford to replace tires all the time and the mileage is great. I ran them on the track, and at my current skill level they are fine.

Bridgestone BT-016 front / BT-023 Rear here also.

On a Ninja 650r, I got 14k miles out of them... weren't even dead yet, but replaced anyways as I had to have a wheel fixed. That's LOTs of commuting, and some backroads riding when possible.

PR2 went 11k miles for me

I like the PP2CT way to much to go back to the PR2ct.

What good is a tire that last 11k miles if you get a nail in it at 2k miles...

Anyway, keep it aired up. On the street I run my tires at 37 or 38 psi...

Anyway, how many miles DID you get?

I'm getting great results commuting and having fun on back roads with the S20. I've got over 6k on the rear tire, and it's not even done yet. (almost though) I had PP 2CTs before the S20 and only got about 4500 miles out of the rear tire.
