The remainder of Sunday's event was canceled. The Limestone Police Department and Maine State Police were investigation the crash.

WHY?

WHY?
Because they are the best trained to document and reconstruct a motor vehicle accident at speed. I'm sure the details of the crash are important enough to preserve in detail.

RIP.

He was a real great. I met him at the Goliad mile. He was working on his bike when Alan introduced me to him. He quit what he was doing to shake my hand and say hi. I was kinda star struck. He was very personable even though he was working feverishly to get his bike ready for his next run. What he has done is nothing short of amazing. Land speed racers are really going to feel this loss. Its a pretty small community. This guy was a marine biologist I'm told. One fast fish guru with skills and intelligence needed to do what others have only been able to dream of. Rip Mr 311

Any time someone dies and it isn't natural causes, an investigation takes place. For all sorts of reasons. Insurance, legal etc. Trust me, you want this, it's a good thing.

I could be wrong, but I doubt there was a government investigation when Simoncelli died.
