Your class M will transfer with no problem to TX, just make sure you have a certificate of birth.......something I do not have.

The state controls the cost. They don't make money off of the class. The places that offer the class have not been allowed to raise rates to cover higher costs for many years. I have not had a raise in my paycheck as an instructor for all that time either. Recently the state approved a small rate hike in part so all the class locations don't go bust.

Just to get a few facts out there. Course costs are controlled by the state, not by the providers. Over the last few years the course providers have had to absorb higher operating costs due to insurance increases, maintenance, fuel, course materials, etc. without being able to raise rates. Most schools run on a tight enough budget as it is. This also does not include rent and utilities which have also gone up. As an instructor, I guarantee none of us are in this to get rich-far from it, we like what we do and enjoy seeing someone acquire the new skills needed to ride. As far as an experienced rider having to take the course-most come back learning some new skill or a skill that they haven't used in awhile, everyone benefits. Its only a closed minded person who takes the course and doesn't gain anything from it.
