Texas Mile pics

I'm not sure that very many of you had even heard of this event, but I wanted to share pics from this past weekend. Another guy took them. The event took place in Goliad and is held twice a year.

I've only met a few of you...but would like to meet (and ride with) more of you in the future.

My name is Matt. In the pics, I'm the skinny guy with a Joe Rocket suit and red 12 (on spray).

what type of racing event is this? I'm assuming they put you on a mile of pavement and let you go at it. Top speed? ET?

It was last weekend. Next one's in October. It's top speed in a standing mile. No ET. Takes place on an old airport runway. Surface is very smooth.

Gulp, a paltry 183.7 in October and 181.9 this year. 15-20 mph headwinds slowed everyone down quite a bit last weekend. 195 was the highest out of my group...but he only weighs 120 pounds. The older guy you see ran a 198 last year and 193 this year. He blew his motor on the second run though. Spraying a 90 shot straight into the TBs will do that to ya.

That 1000 last year was awesome in a straight line. I use mine as a daily driver and grocery getter, so can't mod it too much.

You'd think higher speeds would be easier. In a mile...there's just not enough space to reach top speed. Very fun times though.

btw...my nos solenoid kept freezing. Was fighting nos gremlins all weekend.

That looks like fun. What are entry fees? When is next event?
That supercharged Ford GT looks kinda fun. The turbo big bikes look kinda scary.

Next event is October and pre-register entry is 170. Unlimited passes all weekend.

I think DOA was thinking about going...but is sorting out some high speed stability issues. He's WAY up there, so extra steps need to be taken to stay safe.
