Right after you come out of the curve/entrance to the feeder road (passing the chevron and strip center)...when you merge onto the feeder they put up those white plastic poles to keep people trying to get to target/best buy from cutting over too soon.

**and please change the name of the thread...it is tacky**

ahhh that's right, right by the gas station. Those are still there but that's the opposite side of the curb/onramp. There's been a few times I've seen some close calls there too. Everyone tries to jump across.

Always have to watch myself when riding or test driving customer cars.

Seems he wore gear, but maybe not ATGATT. Very unfortunate. If he was wearing a helmet, but it fell off, you'd think that would be included in the report...regardless, sorry to hear of the loss. RIP

He's gone to nearly most of our northside meets for the last several years.

I don't think I've ever seen him without a helmet nor a jacket(usually not leather) for that matter. But I don't know the situation.

10pm is a little early to be plastered; and he usually drinks in Humble when he does; but again I wasn't there.

What I can comment on, is it is very unfortunate and I wish his employee that stood by his side growing his business the best. He had a lot of life in him and I for one will miss the guy that always encouraged me to laugh when I didn't feel it inside.

Last I know, the curb he hit was the extension they put out that blends in with the onramp and we have lost several BMWs totaled out to customers driving over it hitting the onramp and southbound right after cypresswood. there are not reflective markers or anything. First I saw it, and I drive that turn 3-4 times a day, I fixated on it and couldn't figure out what it was. I bet at night, with low visibility, merging with traffic from three lanes into one, and on a bike, it comes up quickly if you don't expect that 15-20foot extension not to be there(and hasn't since Ive lived in TX)

Best wishes to the family, thank goodness didn't have kids.

Well said. Rip. good guy always with a smile and positive words. Every time he came to the shop or i met up with him he was happy. And he loved ridding.

I drove by the new addition(extended curb)...

I was mistaken it is at least 50 feet from the original merge point. Now it does have yellow paint but only on the front of it, non reflective and there are already tire marks all over the paint.

I live in the area but seldom get on or off at cypresswood. Going to drive by this weekend and see what it looks like. Very sad.

People need to contact TXDOT and see if they can do something about this. I would think they would have a positive response and address it especially with people losing life on top of all the tire marks

RIP Fernando, you will be missed!

I went out a LOT with this guy when I first was single, and he always made sure I made it home safe. Very good guy that will be missed!
