Sounds like the high and low jets are swapped.

Or the high jet is clogged in some way. Have you pulled and cleaned the emulsion tube and all that good stuff?

Have you always run the needle on the leanest position? That's very unusual considering your current mods of a slip on and modified airbox.
What Patrick says. Pull those bleed screws and check the o rings. Take a look down in there as well.

Not always. Just different issues. I went round and round and round with an issue on my bike. Would idle and rev fine sitting still. Start moving, sputter and die. Start right back up, run fine. Repeat. Then it moved to only when I got down on the tank. Cleaned every connection. Couldnt find it. Finally had to scrub down every pin on the wiring harness. Had invisible corrosion. Scrubbed them all down and bike has run perfect since. Took a month to find it. Not to mention a bad ground or dying battery will really ruin your day.

changed? No.
Removed.
New cables are due in in a few days.
BUT, It ran well enough for a couple of weeks with the valve in my box of goodies (as in not even installed).

The 5 valve Yamaha motors have a lot of cam overlap and can cause real issues carburetion wise if the Exup is not installed/functioning.
If your carb set up is the same as it was, and you don't find any oops in the carbs, than my bet is the Exup.

But the EXUP only comes into play below 5K, right?
Or would if just carry the issue on up to the rev limiter?
It did not do it before.....that whats baffling me

Yes, pretty much lower rpm, however the slides bouncing up and down due to reversion can play havoc getting to higher rpms.
Way back when we raced the FZR's we could literally watch the fuel/air mixture shooting 2" out of the carb into the velocity stack when holding the throttle steady at 4000 rpm.

That makes a boat load of sense.....momentum.

I would have never thought of that.
Guess thats why you get the big bucks

I do plan on keeping this FZ, really fun and comfie bike, but that f;n header is on the chopping block before winter. Pretty sure a Holeshot header is due.

Are all of the slide diaphragms sealing?
You say you're on the leanest needle position, what happens with the clip in the middle?
Factory Pro, Ivans or Dynojet kit?
Where are your fuel screws and float levels set at?

Diaphrams are good
Lean, middle (there now), rich....same effect
No kits, just the euro needles and 125 mains, everything else is stock
Floats are at 14mm
screws are at 3.5 turns out.

Just thought about the one thing I have NOT looked at....

fuel filter.

I am done pulling my hair.....wait....I have no hair...

I'll pull the filter off tomorrow and see if that may be the issue.
She has 70K on the original filter.....
