Future Transplant

Howdy y'all! My name is Jim. I currently own a 2010 C14 Concours. My previous bikes include a 2003 SV1000N, 2006 Ducati S2R 800 Monster, and a 2009 DRZ400SM. I will be moving to Houston for work (hopefully) by the end of September. I am currently a design engineer with a major oilfield products company. Looking to make some new friends as I have lived in oHIo my whole life (18 years in Cleveland, 12 years in Cincinnati) and would love help finding somewhere to live (neighborhoods, etc), places to ride, gear/maintenance shops, and good food. I will be moving down with my SO (she will be my wifey by the time we make the move) and our 2 pups. I look forward to any help and meeting as many riders as possible once we get there!

Do you know in what part of town your work will be?

Houston is a big city. It is spread out. If you pick the wrong place to live, your commute could be up to 2 hrs.

I will be working near the intersection of Westpark Tollway and Sam Houston Tollway.

welcome....all these Yankees moving into town. I assume you're a Republican and don't use an Obama phone? Oh wait, you mentioned you were moving here for WORK. lol

Welcome to MH....Houston's premier bs, day job distracting, motorcycle forum. I would not live in the IMMEDIATE area near your work (Westheimer, Richmond & BW8) from my experience. Good neighborhoods all over Houston though.

You will probably want to look in the Sugar Land or Katy areas. Those are nice areas, and a little outside of the city.

Welcome. I have been to Solon a few times, my companies factory if there, and we just had an engineer move down recently. He says we drive crazy here and have medians, but he likes being out of the cold.
