I always get left behind eventhough I ride a R1. I can go fast and pass peeps in the turns but I'm not used to that area or the turns and I'm fine being in the back. It's cool cause you get to see some people do some cool stuff like wheelies and knee drags. Being in the back is alright cause the pack should be(not always are) at the next stop or turn so they don't lose you.
