I don't even bother anymore. Thats what trackdays are for. I've ridden my streetbike maybe 100 miles in the last 3 -4 months.

Id wouldnt bother with that road, unless you take it easy. I'd go for 362 from 290 or hit brookshire, if you want to realy tear it up..

Anywhere is bad right now with operation wrangler in effect. A lot of the smaller depts in TX got a piece of the action. Its a grant money for OT given to depts. Pretty much a zero tolerance policy on traffic infractions. Till that money runs out expect to see them out in the rural areas in full force.

Didn't see any LEO over there today, but managed to get run off the road by a truck.

He was behind a car that was doing less than the speed limit, so when we came to a passing zone I hit my blinker and made my move, but as I got about even with the truck's rear tire, he suddenly came over into the oncoming lane to overtake the car himself. He never signaled and never saw me. I was riding second in a group of 5, so everyone saw exactly what happened.

As I swerved to get out of his way, I don't think I even had a chance to hit the horn. No idea why I didn't brake hard and get behind him, but instinct had me swerve left and end up on the soft shoulder. As many of you now, there really ISN'T A SHOULDER on 149 up there, so what I was riding on was pine needles, branches, soft dirt, and a few big rocks. The guy behind me said it looked like I was riding a bucking bronc!

I looked to get the bike back up onto the pavement, but the edge of the blacktop looked too sharp and I decided I'd just bring it to a stop and catch my breath.

BE CAREFUL OUT THERE! We are invisible!

I noticed a bunch of guys with sbk529.com are meeting up at Starbucks at 6 and 290 about 1 for a ride to the forest. With the step up in police activity they might divert it to Navasota or somewhere else.

That would be the Forest Service, I'ld be careful as the Game Warden is prolly on his speed dial.
