I saw this on the news and kinda figured that there was going to be a thread regarding this rider and his demise.

First of all, having lost his life this guy has paid the ultimate price for his lack of judgment and/or basic inexperience with life changing decisions that will forever affect him, his family and friends.

Getting a ticket, sitting in a patrol car, in a jail cell or ending up in prison aren't things that when you buzzing along on a bike that are on your "things to do list." The power of the throttle will lie to you and make you believe that what you have in your hand is somehow smarter than your head.

Running is a bad idea, period. I don't care how many times you've succeeded or think that you can, the front page on the news will prove you wrong.

Getting a ticket is better than going to jail, getting arrested and going to jail is much more forgivable than a ride to the morgue.

Man up and pull over, a ticket is much less expensive than a casket.

I don't know why you'd black out a headlight at all.
If it was stolen and he effed up the wiring, OK.

But to paint it over? WTF good does that do. Sounds like he was looking to go play hide and seek from the get-go. He could've AT LEAST wired it to a switch. Sounds like an idiot on multiple levels.

Condolences to the loved ones left behind. Unfortunately his dumbass decision cost him his life. I'll always help my moto family but when you deliberately break the law you're on your own.

I didn't personally know him, but he's a friends nephew. From what he said the police added to the story. His head light weren't black out.

I wasn't ready to believe what I read in the news report just yet. I'm sorry about your friend's nephew; very sad right now.

This is one of those cases were you can only read one side of the story...... Which is why i won't say anything bad about him and just simply give him my peace.
Its pretty funny reading comments about this guy like "another dumb idiot off the street." What if that guy was an amazing person! Don't judge a book by its cover. You don't like it when they judge us so why judge him?
Because he ran from the cops? I know over 10 people that all have crazy story's about running from the cops (including my self.)
That doesn't mean i deserve the right to get bashed when i die.
We all make really stupid choices in life but that does not give you the right to comment on how he lived his life and instantly judge his whole life because he made one wrong choice.

Many of you may have seen news reports of a motorcyclist that was killed early Saturday Morning, June 29, fleeing from the police was Blake Reeves. He had just turned 21 nine days prior the the accident on June 30th. Some of you know him from Clutch Crew on the Shed Ride Lite that was held earlier this year in February. He was head strong and didn't make all the right decisions in life but he was a good person none the less. As to the news reports some of the facts were great exaggerations... His headlights was not painted over... The lenses had overspray around the edges of the light. And his license plate position was no different than many of the crew member have at this moment.

The truth however is that he did , for whatever motive, attempt to flee from the police and as he was lengthening the distance between himself and the police at speeds I can only assume were well above 100+ mph he struck a curb and he and the bike tumbled and slide over 150+ feet. The bike slammed into the back of a parked car with so much force it moved the car six feet. Blake struck the from of the car and then a large concrete based light pole. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

We do not know why he decided to run. He wasn't doing anything wrong. The officer stated the reason he attempted to pull Blake over was to question him about his headlight as a safety issue... nothing more.

Although Blake is no longer with us, he will live on and help many others as a donor. Funeral arrangements are being made and I will post them when they are final.

I hope this message will discourage others from running... a ticket and or jail time nothing if you can return home to your family safety compared to being seriously injured or killed.
Thanks for posting this. RIP Blake.

Uh, "the news" gets their info from the popo. You don't really believe they have a need to make some riders look worse than they actually are?

Good thing this jackass didn't crash into a mom pushing a newborn in a stroller.

...you know, I'm thinking that 'overspray' had to be pretty heavy for a leo to notice and try to pull him over to mention/point it out.

Uhm, that would be your opinion... my opinion on your life choices might be different...

Its sometimes amazing how many 'good people' get caught, or killed...doing something illegal/immoral.

Not at all. But even you have to admit that the story was sensational - especially the part about assuming.

I've seen you ride - 100+ is pretty much the norm. I don't know that you would run, but the speed is what killed him, not the running - maybe he didn't see the cops and was just riding like an idiot? There are always two sides to every story and we only got one. That's all I'm saying.

Touche' - but it was 1am. If a mom was pushing a stroller at 1am, I would question her parenting.

Quote every part of the story that KPRC, not the police, exaggerated. 100+ is not the norm on Shepherd. I guess it could have been just a coincidence that he accelerated to 100+ when the cop got behind him.

Ok, a mom just getting off of work on her way home to her children could have been hit by this idiot, better?

Again, KPRC is only reporting what was told to them by the police
