Gas Mileage 31mpg need help.

alright from reading everyone's post from the commute to work thread. I noticed that everyone was getting way better mileage that i am! these numbers im getting are just commuting to work and back home. i don't even go to 10k rpms. or even get near it.

so i get 31.94mpg
115 miles and the gas light comes on
and i fill up at 3.6 gallons

is there anything i can do to get better gas mileage? also this is for a 2006 R6! :confused1

how hard you drive it makes a big difference, i think. i'd usually get around 35 mpg when i rode it hard.

Don't know about bikes, but I do know that if you lug cars around ( especially old iron engines like the Pontiac 455's I used to run ) that your fuel mileage can be worse because you aren't operating in the engines designed powerband.

I swore up and down that when i got my bike, I wasn't going to see the topside of 7 grand while commuting. That lasted about three days.

The newer sport bikes are not as gas friendly. Get an SV if you want a high MPG commuter.
