If you are a stone newbie, then the cheaper groups sound good, but they are not really all that good for you....for some there will be little safety in consideration... it is just an open trackday and for a newbie that could be a real problem... some groups have a little better set up for rules and safety on paper, then they go and overload the grids...
each of the groups has their own appeal, and short comings...these things take some time to figure out and can get you in hot water if you discuss the draw backs of each organization on some of the forums...no one really likes you bad mouthing their sponsors...
which group you as an individual come to prefer will vary and will depend on your ability and personality...some of the most well known groups are groups that i personally would not recommend to someone doing their very first trackday and yet those very groups are touted for their cheap first trackday and the freebies they offer first time riders....after you get used to trackdays and track riding those groups would serve you just fine IMO, but not the first one.
Very well said.

How many of these org's have TD's at all of the tracks. Like Ride Smart and 3T's
The vast majority only do TD's at 1 or 2 tracks each.

exactly.. Elite doesnt even do track days that I know of, Fastline doesnt have a trackday til September, 3t only swings by texas to do a nice chunk, Ride Smart does majority and a lot at msrc, extreme is helping out... Im pretty excited to try this track day org, ive never not liked a track day organizer. And Lstd so far the staff ive met are pretty cool, but its not like they do track days all over the place, they do a couple a month

Good plan man! (I teach biology, thanks for the shout out for Darwin

(BTW, I'm a slow level 2 with smooth yet predictable lines as well. Though, I'm riding level 1 with Track Tactics since it seems that they draw a racer crowd, and I think that event is the last weekend before a CMRA race.)

In all honesty though, I think there are some groups out there that may be good for you, that you should not advise newbies on their first track day to go to...no matter what freebies they offer first timers or how much discount they give them.
A free for all may be great for you, but with all the things that happen in a first track day, it can be overwhelming for a newbie, and then to be left to their own devices could be devastating.
I had my first track day on June 22nd with Ridesmart. I loved it and can't wait to go back. I had a lot of time with the instructor and could've had more but I felt like I had a lot to work on already. I'm guessing things have changed because I didn't have any problems. You ride in the back of a truck around the track, then do round robin, then follow your instructor. By that time I was tired of follow the leader so I think 2 round robins would be too much. Anyways thanks again ridesmart.
