Critical Mass Houston. (Last Friday Of The Month)

When: Last Friday Of the Month 6-28-2013
Where: Meet @ Market Square Downtown
Time: 6:30pm Ride Starts 7:15pm
Site: http://houstoncriticalmass.com/
From their Site:
Quote:
This month’s ride takes place on June 28th. Like clockwork, the Critical Mass takes place EVERY month, rain or shine, on the last Friday of the month. We meet at Market Square Park in Downtown Houston between 6;30 – 7pm and the ride starts around 7:15 – 7:20pm.

This month’s ride will end at the yearly Summer Blowout Party hosted by one of our members and this year’s party promises to be one of the biggest and best yet. More details to come.

If you’d like to get connected with other mass riders and stay informed about all of the riders, please join us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/62074084734/

Thought I would give it a shot and see who else here on MH also rides a bicycle and would like to participate.

This would be mine and my girlfriend's first time doing the critical mass. I've heard mixed reviews from it, so I decided to check it out for myself.

If it's good, this could become a Monthly thing. If it ain't maybe the group from MH could go off and do their own thing.

The ride is usually over by 9:00pm according to their FB page. That sounds great because it gives us a chance to check THIS (link) out.

Post up if interested.

We went a couple of months ago, it was GREAT. It's a bit scary though, there are a lot of bicycles and people doing all sorts of stuff but as long as you have a back pack with canned beverages, it works out pretty good. Oh, and as long as you and they hold their line too!

I thought they just cruised around downtown and took my 2 year old daughter with me. She rides in front of me in a little carrier. Bad idea. I broke off from them about 30 minutes in. My daughter loved it though. Had a guy cruising next to me the whole time with a stereo and she was dancing and having a good time. It would have been fun if I didn't have her with me. It got pretty crazy and they go down some very busy roads. One girl got taken away in an ambulance after cracking her head on the ground and there were tons of off motorists. One guy got out of his car and was trying to stop everybody because he was tired of waiting through green lights for everyone to pass. It was funny though because everybody was passing by him giving him high fives. I may go again once it cools off a bit. Everybody goes out afterwards for drinks which would be fun.

done by 9? I remember it being an all-night kinda thing... maybe they've shortened it... or maybe I was in a group that stuck around longer at the later stops.

Have GOOD lights... won't matter so much in a group, but once you are alone headed back to start point or wherever you go... you'll want to be like a Christmas tree.

I like the concept... I hate the execution by a few. The few ruin it for the many.

Yes, be careful. It's probably just the odds of seeing that many on bikes, but I've seen 4 get serious concussions. Not all were major accidents, 1 was just someone who ate it HARD coming to a stop at a red light.

There's an after party: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater

Should be amazing, Rod's work does inventory on the last weekday of the month. Low and behold, this Friday is the last weekday of June.

It's one thing to demonstrate and be legal about it but that's exactly why people get off. They wanna start slapping my , I'm gonna hit some critical mass!
