Getting closer....almost done with the torture trials.. Did another 170 miles today.... All in all I feel pretty good other then numb hands and extremely numb/pained ... Some sort of padded/gel seat mod will be in the future for sure..

I also popped her rain cherry unfortunately...got caught in a pretty bad down pour for 20 mins...so she is not "brand new clean" anymore. But I am rushing out to wash her now..

Got 36 mpg out of the last two tanks...that was with some spirited riding, city and lots of 80 mph highway. Ofcourse nothing over 9k rpms yet though..

My ZX10R got her rain cherry popped when she was 24 hours old. Got poured on all the way from 10 and Washington to Cypress. Thank got for Traction Control. The upside is that I tested TC the hard way and am confident it works. Highest setting not one bit of wheel spin in the pouring rain!

Mine had 1600 miles when I got it but I don't think it ever saw the rain....

There was a rain storm on my way to buy it, I test drove it on the wet street with pine needles EVERYWHERE...it was a bit wet for the first 10 miles back to Pearland from the Woodlands...I didn't care, I just wanted the bike

dude the first time you uncork the beast after the rev limiter you will see . I went from "rain" mode 700 miles to "sport" unlimited and twist of the wrist felt like my ballz got warped back in time to 1967 lol

It sounds like the 2012 is more refined than my 2011 was. I've only test ridden the 2012, but the few miles that I put on it, it did feel better. I still don't understand why the engine doesn't have a counterbalancer. That was one of my biggest gripes with mine. My hand would go completely numb in the matter of a half hour. Also, on the 2011 the throttle was overly stiff, which they fixed on the 2012. The revisions of the riding modes is a big improvement for the 2012. With an overly harsh rear shock and abrupt riding modes for the 2011, it made for a jarring ride over anything other than ultra smooth pavement. While the power on top was pretty darn good, the bike felt down right anemic below 10 grand. The power output reminds me of a R-6. It's all at the very top. I had a 02' GSXR 1000 back in the day, and miss having power as low as 4000rpm. The one thing that did stand out about the BMW that you already mentioned was the brakes. Hands down the best of any bike that I've ridden.

Hey Gary, is that the "sport" model or the "track" model?

Looks like a killer seat.. Is it gel up by the tank too? I ride close to the tank so I need some padding up there..

Nice bike ! I've got the full Brock's system on my S1000... Sounds mean as and puts out more power than most all the rest. Agreed it doesn't look as great as an Akro system and some others but I wanted performance this time around. I put a power commander on it too, plus a few other little things enjoy the new bike !

Looks good Alan!

Get it over to Johnnies and run it stock before you start changing everything on it...

I'll be going to the Taco Run on the SW side, haven't been to a SE meet in a while, I moved out of Pearland back in December and am in the Galleria now...

This seat is badass fa sho, we'll have to get together and ride sometime....in Mexico....for testing purposes

im getting one of those seats. felt great. looks good too.

i had a 2010 s1000rr. it was the current year model but used at a dealer in dallas with only 860 miles.. it felt nice and all but it ended up having a crankshaft bearing problem at 4k miles. it was repaired under warranty and it never felt right again after. i sold it in april 2011. i then bought a 2011 zx10r in june 2011. it had zero miles. no problems.... yet... lol

that sux... I know they had a ton of bottom end problems on some early 2012s when rod bolts were breaking... I have definitely heard of more engine failures with BMWs then any of the companies...

I hope my holds up... They are high strung, high revving engines that have to be kept in the upper RPM range to make jam so.... More likelihood of hurting something.

I remember when the ZX12s first came out and they were kicking rods out all the time....Eventually kawi put a 2000 mile break in period on them... but many blew up the first year..
