Put my deposit down on a 2013 Granite Grey metallic yesterday.. They are having to do a dealer transfer because they are out of granite greys so it will be a week or so before it gets here.. I was holding out for the 2014s but after seeing the colors, I decided to find a left over Granite Grey..

I got to test ride the Salesman's personal bike (he and I are friends), his is a 2011 Motorsports with a full Kyle racing system on it and PCV with the Kyle map. The pipe sounds phenomenal btw.. Anyway my first impression after a quick 10 min ride...

1)Brakes = Awesome
2) Steering feel/feedback = Awesome, although felt a bit twitchy under hard acceleration... A better steering damper may be needed.. Not sure yet
3) Legroom and tank width = pretty comfy
4) Low clip ons, lots of weight on the wrists
5) Seat freakin sux... Hard as a rock and sharp edges on the inner thighs
6) Stock height windscreen is useless for me
7) Fueling feels spot on, no glitches or quirks.
8) low end to midrange power was pretty disappointing.. From 8k on it ripped but 3-7k felt pretty lame... Not just at wide open but grabbing say 50-60% throttle, just didn't have the instant torque I'm used to from busas and gsxr1000s... But this was a 2011.. Maybe the 2013s are better here.
9) Suspension was stiff as a board..I know its a track bike but ...it's pretty harsh while city riding and bumpy roads etc... I may be softening the settings some for daily riding...

All in all, I liked it, put my money down and excited to finally get an S1000rr, I look forward to making some changes and enjoying the bike..

I installed a Sargent seat on mine which helped out. Also installed a BMW "double bubble" windscreen and an Ohlins steering damper from Kyle Racing to address some of the issues you mentioned.

Yeah, more then likely, the Brocks Alien head... Although the demo I rode had a Kyle USA full Ti system and it sounded PHENOMENAL! Very deep, no rasp.... Can get the full Ti system for $1300.... BUT...not a lot of dyno info on them... You know Brocks stuff is gonna make power..

I just don't want to lose any ground clearance during tight turns and the alien head protrudes out the side a bit... Should be fine though..

I'd like it to make an honest 185hp after Cheese tunes it..

a bunch of Brock's ...Blanco has an Alienhead on his 13 10R and that is way louder than it needs to be. Its obnoxious. I made one more HP than him on a back to back dyno run with my M4 too. That being said, can't go wrong with an Akra or the Kyle that you've already ridden on...

I had never even heard of Kyle USA before.... but I will say that S1000rr with the Kyle system was probably the best sounding bike I've ever heard....It was very deep and throaty at idle..... Sounded like a V Max or a 350 chevy with a cam... It was fairly loud but not obnoxious.... It look pretty good too but the can was pretty big.. $1300 for a full TI system wasn't too bad...

Only reason I don't want the alien head is when I drag race, it will burn right pant leg....bad...

Yeah its pretty loud... But after riding a quiet bike for 6 years, I'm ready for something noisy and off... Not sure how my neighbors will like it when I leave for work at 4 am...

Brocks is the bang for the buck pipe $1045 and makes the most power as any of them. Looks ok but nothing spectacular...Sounds good but maybe a little too loud.

Full akro with shorty pipe is $1178, makes good power and sounds "ok"...It looks good too..

The Kyle system sounds good, is $1300 for full Ti which is a steal, but not sure about the power it makes and its kind of plain looking, and has a big can on it..

In reality, all of these systems will make within 3hp of each other...Its really about getting the sound and look, and ofcourse the $$..

I'd love a Brocks Full Ti CT series system but.. its $1900...

Sounds like the Kyle wins by sound quality.

Johnny just did an S1000rr with a Brock pipe and pump gas and made 194 rwhp... But I am sure those were STD numbers as that is what he always goes by on his dyno... SAE would still be 190.... pretty good... I'd kill for those number on a stock bike with a pipe and a 3 year warranty.

Remember not all bikes are equal so if you didn't test the pipes on both bikes it's not a (true) fair comparison..
