I still think about it because I love everything about my 01 1000... BUT.... a well built 1070 cc gen 1 motor MAY make 180-185 rwhp realistically, to the tune of about $5k... So I'd be dumping $5k in a bike that is worth $5k....Yet still has old school brakes, suspension, no techno goodies...Not to mention running the risk of running hot, not starting on one battery, possible fuel system upgrades etc etc. OR buy a new bike that makes 180-185rwhp, has a warranty, all the latest and greatest gadgets....WAY more advanced ECU, higher rev capability(can't reflash 01' GSXR ECUs for extended revs)...

I go back and forth on this often...but I just hate to ruin the reliability of my 1000 by going into the motor.... I need something daily rider capable, something that can idle down the bike rally and not over heat, always start etc etc..

I don't think Gary had done the wire mod at that time. I remember him telling me about it but I don't think he had done it... I mean his 2012 bike was definitely faster by a good stretch, but not near what I thought it would have been.... but my 1000 starts dragging about 160 mph, no doubt he would rape me from 160 and up...

My bike and Gary's 05' ZX10 (the orange one) were dead on matches...who ever would get the jump would win...and as mentioned, he was a decent bit lighter then me...

I don't think you'll have any issues running around the streets on one. Only when you put it through its paces to those little items come up.

Haha... No more GSXRs, I want something kind of different this time around... Gixxers are boring.. From 05 on they all look the same to me...

As for another Busa, I've owned one for 13yrs, I definitely don't want another one...

S1000rr is not exactly exotic but atleast not everyone has them.. That's kind of my problem with the ZX10.... Way too common..

My train of thought is, something different like a Ducati, yet with a bunch more power.

For the street, this is what you need. Should be out later this year. Estimating 180-200 HP with low curb weight so the power-to-weight ratio is supposed to be really good.

The Ducati 1199/1199S has close to the same hp as the BMW. The 1199R has more hp than the 1199/S, but costs $30K.

True but a Gen-II is different..

If you don't go BMW HP4 then you best just wait for a Gen-III BUSA if it ever happens...

Otherwise, you better start doing track days and look into a RSV4 or something along those lines. Not much left in the bike world these days...

Under 10k miles since new and havent had a single issue on the bike at all, very reliable german engineering if you dont mess with it, lots of people on the forums start to have issues when they start modding the bike, mine is pretty much stock and still pretty fast on the straight line, the only complaint on the older model is the geometry and the lack of feeling on the front end but for drag racing you wont even feel it, i would highly recommend the bmw as your everyday street bike, very comfy ergos and plenty of power when you need to get away from traffic.

Buddy of mine just found a leftover 2011 ZX-10R that he bought to race CMRA...you might even be able to find one and save even more than a 2012 leftover...

Just sayin

Or you could just ride around on the ol hoopty and continue dreaming about owning a new fast bike with all the technology...

Oh, and let's do a roll on rematch sometime

Mancuso has a left over new 2012 ZX10 for $11,499.. No abs tho.

We may be able to do another roll on but... I'm about 99% I have the ole hooptie sold so I don't want to beat on it. It won't be gone until sept tho.

I'm gonna wait and see what the 2014 BMW comes out like. Supposedly thy stopped production on the 2013s early to re-tool the assembly plant for the 2014s so there must be some significant changes. If the 2014s come out and I don't like them, I'll buy a new/left over 2013.

I did find a thunder gray 2011 demo at the old BMW dealer I used to work out.. It's loaded out for $14,500 and full 3 year warranty BUT it already has 1660 miles on it... And apparently the 11's have quite a few quirks, most of which were resolved on the 2012s.. I have already seen a few engine failures though on the 2012s and even a 2013... That is no bueno.

So after sept, ill be down to a single bike... the REAL hooptie... Will be pressure back into full active duty..

I'm sure Suzuki will continue on with the same 165hp, plain Jane gixxer they have been producing for the last 6 years, Hondas will always be under power but reliable turds and Yamaha is continuing the crack usage and producing those pitiful plane design engines that don't even hit 160hp and pathetic midrange...Yamaha has been going backwards with the R1 since 09..

Kawi and BMW is where its at.

Didn't the 2011 ZX10s have valve spring problems or something?

They need better colors on the zx10s... They need a silver or blue one.
