Title Transfer Late Penalty

I put it off since late March and it never occurred to me that there would be a penalty for late transfer. Is there any way to avoid this penalty?

Looks like I will have to fork over an additional $75

don't date things until you're ready to do the title transfer

Too late now. Everything has been dated. Learned the semi-hard way I suppose.

Fellow Stafford/750 buddy!

dont change the date- there will have to be a notary involved.

I had to fork out like 100 bucks for my late title transfer too.

Ask the seller to request a replacement title, then do the transfer all over again. That's if you can get the seller to do it. They only charge a couple of bucks for a new title.

If i sell you a street bike, you are going to meet me at the title transfer office...
I do not want you riding around for months on a bike with my name on it...
bad for me if you up.

There are change of title forms a selling can fill out... but it isn't free (not expensive). Basically says, "I sold this bike, no longer mine"

Or keep the plates.

I made sure to have a copy of bill of sale with buyers signature on it... not sure what good that would do if needed.

But yeah, at the tax office is the sure-fire way to not get screwed.

So, what exactly are you asking? Were you unaware that you have only 30 days from date on transfer paperwork?

its a 100% MUST to fill out the notification of title transfer forms after selling a bike,

but I am in agreeance with Obed in the fact that i want to be more than sure that the title was transferred promptly because the bike sale doesnt end after the money is handed over, only when the tax assesor takes the title and mails him the new one will i feel secure that i wont be held liable for any accidents/toll charges/etc. that the New owner may be responsible for.

they have forms that you fill out and send to the state when you sell a bike/vehicle....it would keep you out of trouble....along with a BOS you should be fine.

if its an older bike more than 20 years old etc, isn't there something where they dont' have to pay a late fee or something?

But then again. I doubt his bike is that old lol
