Sunday, 6/30/13 EARLY Ride to Somerville

Pace: Moderate (atleast 1 year riding experience highly recommended)
Meet spot: Bucee's off 290/ Mueschke Rd.
Meet time: 7:30
KSU: 8:00 (Trying to start off when its not 100*)

Total Miles: approx~ 200
Return time to Cypress: approx~ 2:30.

Discription: Riding West to Lake Somerville, Tx. Great food at Mamma's Kitchen. This route is a lot of fun and some sections have good corners.

Reminder: We will stop at road splits, stop signs, intersections for everyone. So, no need to try and play catch up.....Ride at your comfort pace..No trophies to be won on this ride.
Street rides are not the place to push the limits..

Before you leave the ride, PLEASE inform someone..


Rules:
* Minimum Gear = helmet, gloves, jacket, boots, jeans.
* Absolutely, no passing in corners.
* Keep atleast 3-4 car lengths between bikes when moving.
* Ride staggered in the straights & single file in corners.
* Every rider will be assigned a "riding buddy" or riding group to ensure no rider is left behind.

* IMPORTANT: - NO PASSING THE GROUP LEADERS ..UNLESS, THE LEADER WAVES YOU BY....

This is done for safety reasons.

ATTENTION:
CHANGES COMING TO I-610/US 290 INTERCHANGE Major lane closures scheduled this weekend as crews switch traffic and prepare for bridge work

HOUSTON - Work is progressing at the I-610/US 290 interchange as more columns are being constructed for future bridges in the heart of the interchange. Crews will switch traffic and remove overhead sign structures this weekend, making room for the contractor to begin work on future bridge supports for the I-610/US 290 connector to I-10. Closures this weekend are:

. Sunday, June 30 at 5 a.m., through Noon, mainlanes of the I-610 North Loop westbound at T.C. Jester will be closed. Motorists will be detoured to the T.C. Jester exit. For I-610, stay on the frontage road and U-turn at Dacoma to the US 290 eastbound frontage road, turn left on 18th Street and enter I-610 on the right. For US 290, stay on the frontage road to freeway entrance past Mangum.

Yes.. The group leaders will be given the routes in advance. And most of this route has very little stopping or splits.

Yes.I know its early.. But, still better than 6am..which would be truly an ideal time to start.. It gets too hot by noon...

Hot weather easy riding gear:
Good mesh suit..with good protection..
Cooling vest..
Camel back..
Stay dry ..underarmor.

Spray water over entire suit every hour to stay cool..

Viffer has a video somewhere from last years hill country ride..

Mesh provides less protection than leather.. So, be extra careful.
