I say keep whatever animal you want, but change the law so that you (the owner) are personally responsible for its actions. If your dog kills someone, it would be the same as if you did. If your dog disfigures someone, it would be the same as if you assaulted them.

Why are you going to put a dog to sleep for being a dog? It cant help it is what it is, but the owner can help choosing to own it, no matter what breed it is.

maybe there should be special permits required for certain breeds to make sure only responsible owners get them.

This is a pathetic thread!

I'm not sure about the facts but here is how I see the deal with Pit Bulls. They are powerfull animals. As a result many are trained to fight and/or be aggressive. Becasue so many of them are trained this way, more so than other breeds, there are more incidents. If 5 different dogs run away and one is trained to fight, guess what, the one that is trained to fight is going to do just that. Well, that is the one that is going to make the news.

IMO there are no bad kids, just bad parrents and there are no bad dogs, just bad owners.

+1 so if she couldnt find her keys and was trying to get in the house..the dogs were alerted to intruders and attacked. *shrugs* talkk all the $hit you want but my dogs arent trained to attack. in fact, when people walk in te house..whether they know them or not (cable guy..friends that hvet met the diogs) they wag their tails and ecpect to get petted and food handed over. these poor dogs will never live this down. it's racist for people to think the way you guys think. again, if you carry the same mindset everywhere..im surprised you dont hate black and/or muslim people for the way the media has portrayed them. ive been attacked by my neighbor's german shepard as well as have been chased down the alley by a "hound dog" on my motocyle while he was biting at my ankles. dog behavior (as well as human behavior) is all relative to the environment they were raised in. im so sick of these threads
