Old tires can be recycled for free at Walmart.

I had an old set from a friends bike, and Walmart took them at no cost.

Interesting. I wonder if they'll do that with car tires too... I've got a set I think I'm going to mount myself. Have to give them a call.

I do know the COH garbage trucks don't like it if you put a car tire in your trash

the alarm on the garbage truck goes off and the guy has to get out and remove it

I know a guy who gets because he has to pay a $7 disposal fee when he buys the tire, and then they want $7 to actually take it as a disposal.

He just tosses them in the ditch somewhere.

I need to try walmart next time. I took a couple tires to the city recycle place off 59 & westpark when dropping of some old paint and the lady denied me telling me that they only take 15", 16", & 17" tires. I kept telling her that one of the tires was 17" (they were off of a dirtbike) but she didn't want to hear it.

I ended up taking them to Discount Tire and paying $2.50 each for them to take them.

There used to be places in NY that would buy used tires. The province of Ontario would buy them. They were ground up, and mixed into the pavement. It supposedly gave more flexibility, and the pavement would crack less with the extreme temperatures. I'm not sure if they still do, or if the concept even worked.

That is what my buddy told me......and why he tosses them in a ditch

I will tell you what Disc. Tire does with them....

I am pretty sure this is the place they PAY to come pick up the tires.
http://southtexasrubbermulch.com/contact-us.php

They (mulch place) charge to take tires away, they charge for the mulch they make, they sell the metal that comes out of the tire.

I am in the wrong .biz

Start taking your tires and tossing them over the fence at rubber mulch place.

walmart will also take your oil too. you just have to sign a release (log book) and they take any amount you can bring.

Any auto supply store in Texas is required by law to take used oil.
