MSR H observations

first, Jr. Ed Ford....Hope no more than your ego was bruised on the crash.
What happened?

Camel Dude......keep yer lid on......that was pretty rude.

If you crash, get YOURSELF out of the impact zone. I dont want to see someone target fixate on you and run you over.

I see a bunch of ya'll were there, unfortunately, I have no idea who is who. for the most part. Next time, flip me off as you come around.

I would have rather been riding, but that said, it is fun to watch ya'll ride around in circle all day......kinda like a cat with the laser pointer

I could not find the dude on the motard, the Husky, the really fast one. Dude was a badass! Level 3, with the Xlite lid. Fess up, Ima buy you a beer for making me giggle like a high school girl. If I wore panties, your riding would have made them wet.

If you don't know who I am, just look for the camo boonie.....
(blue shorts, red NOLA shirt)
DSC 7222 M

I try and make it fun when flag'n ya'll......and I am a bit of a dork about it

Thanks for keeping me entertained while in style heat, wasps, bees, and skeeters.

Thank you for all that hard work out there. Seemed like y'all stayed pretty busy all day, on top to the tremendous temperatures.

Good job CW's! Couldn't do it without y'all.

It was a freaking blast. I rode every session, and I was beat by the end of the day.

I was behind the 'Busa when he crashed.....and my GoPro was positioned to far down to see it all. You can see a little bit of him sliding through the gravel though.

As crowded as it was in the first two sessions, I was a little worried. But I think everyone got faster and once they started letting us pass on the outside it was awesome.

My favorite turns were the launch, the bus stop, and diamonds edge. I really liked the entrance to the carousel, but I could not get the exit right. I just didn't have the to let it run wide after the apex to set up for the right onto the straight. I hugged the curb all the way around and then would be set up completely wrong to come on the pit straight.

I wish I could remember my instructors name, he was great. Extremely helpful and informative. I gained a lot of confidence by the end of the day. I lapped a couple people the last session, I was stoked.

Glad y'all made it out and had fun. I'm sore today! First time I've ridden in a while. Felt decent, worked on a couple things (T6-DE, and S&S trail braking/CS). (Apparently I NEED a quick shifter?! LOL) The track felt pretty solid, even fairly early. Would have been a perfect day, had it been like 85*, and not so dang humid!

John, thanks so much for being available so early yesterday, and coming to the rescue! You rock!

A huge thanks to all the CW's and Kaitlin as TM for a smooth day! You guys/girls make my job so much easier, and as MateMike said, we couldn't do this without you!

Thanks Camo Hat...I talked to you at lunch, I was the one giving out brownies. It sounds as though you made the best of it, and at least you were at the Carousel (probably one of the best turns to CW at MSRH!).

Thanks to Ridesmart for making it happen, but it couldn't happen without EVERYBODY: workers (TM, instructors, CWers), riders, facility and....BBQ (another forum, HPC deserves big cred for that! Billy in particular!)!

Everybody seemed ready to help each other...good spirit and community, track people. I'm sure that all of the riding schools are proud of what they bring together.

I was corner working Turn 14 and yes it was a busy day. Level 3 was pushing pretty good, very exciting to watch.

That motard in level 3 was fast! Number 254 I believe? He almost lost it in Turn 17/16 after Pit Straight, I was very impressed he saved it

I also enjoyed watching number 789 on the R1, power wheelies never get old

And a final note, whoever was in Level 1 on the black Triumph(I believe a Speed Triple) with black leathers and black helmet. Not sure if anyone talked to you yesterday about your pace, but you're definitely ready for Level 2

I figured out I was doing this without knowing it LOL. I would come in with what I thought was too much speed and still be on the brakes turning into sugar and spice. By the last session I was getting better at it I think.

Apparently , I was trail braking.

Awesome! Pretty cool to feel you're improving on stuff. That's one nice thing about the track--it's repetitive, so you can see your progress.

I trail brake often, but I have this habit of setting my corner speed BEFORE the trail braking, which makes the actual corner speed too slow. So those particular corners I was working on going in a little quicker and braking later, so when I should be trail braking for better turn-in/stability, I still had a lil speed to give up. Was a good day. Always a work in progress, though.

Here's the busa crash. Unfortunately my go pro was facing to low to see it very well, but here are a few screen shots. I'll upload just that section of the vid later.

How you feeling today dude?

I was on the Husky. Travis was out there on an Aprilia. We were both in level three. He was sliding it around more than I was. That was my first tme on the bike so I will push it more with some better brakes and sticky tires.

The guy on the Busa that crashed name was Malik. I spoke to him after he came out the ambulance and said he had broken his collarbone.. He was actually in pretty good spirits and seemed more that he'd have to sit out 6wks before he could get back out to the track.
It was sad to him go down cause he had been improving significantly from first TD about a month ago..

Personal best lap time before going down. Does anybody have go pro of me crashing? I am left clueless towards what I did. All I remember was coming in to sugar and spice, leaned in.. And then pow! Bike slid and I started rolling.

So I hear. LOL! Buswell was teasing me about my "perfect BP...until you come out of it to shift" (I upshift to 4th while still somewhat leaned over coming out of T7, and T3, so I have to change my BP some to do it--standard shift). Any sponsors?

Glad you're okay, BTW! Bike didn't look bad. When I lowsided in S&S in Feb, it's bc I let off the hard braking w/o trailing it into the turn, and unloaded the front. Bike ended up in the gravel pit, and belly pan scooped up half of what was there (much like yours LOL!). Was all throughout the bike.

Thanks; that was me on the street triple r.

The instructor (Randy) told me I should go to level 2 so I will try that out next time.

I really wasn't sure at first because it was my 3rd track day and I don't want to "get faster" too fast and overdo it. Already had a close call where I scraped my peg on the curbing.

Great to see ur bike is still in good shape! My girl kept telling me about ur tuck and roll and how hard she thought u had hit ur head a couple times but sounds like all's well with u!

Btw we were pitted together with James on the white/blue Triumph.. I was pretty with my own issue with my oil filler cap coming off. Luckily it popped off right as I was parking in the paddocks.

I ended up sitting out a session to get my bike cleaned up and had a great time the rest of the day..
