Any other 2nd Gen R6's burning coils like me?

2003 Yamaha R6.

Before, I get into it. Yes, my bike has had the yamaha recall, and ditched the densos a year and a half or two years ago. Since then I have put about 18k on the bike, commuting, rides, etc...

lately its been down on power under load, like wont even lift the front wheel under WOT in 1st gear and a slight bogging, and gas mileage as been down from about 43 mpg combined commuting to about 36ish. annoyed, but no big deal. Pulled the tank up, removed the airbox, pulled the coils in anticipation of checking my pricey Iridium CR9EIX's..... to find my 3/8 ratchet and driver set is missing. The spark plug tool is in 3/8ths set. Apparently one of my roomates has my set in his car... which is in impound for dumb stuff. (that is for a whole 'nother thread). Seeing as this is all torn apart anyway... I inspect the newish replacement coils (mitsubishi) and tested them even though they looked a little crispy.

coil 1: primary: .5 ohms secondary: 5.77 k ohms
coil 2: primary: .5 ohms secondary: 5.71 k ohms
coil 3: primary: .5 ohms secondary: 5.76 k ohms
coil 4: primary: .5 ohms secondary: 5.67 k ohms

Spec is : Primary: .17 - .23 ohms secondary: 4.8 - 7.2 k ohms

18 months.... really?!

I havent worked on this bike but from past experiences I'd say you have a bad ground somewhere or your wires need to be replaced.

bad ground is possible. this bike is cop ignition however. no wires... which leaves the plugs. gotta pull those and take a look.

I had an issue on a car that was burning through coils. After going through several I found my ground cable was bad underneath the insulation. Never would have found it if I hadnt felt it crunch in my hands. chevy, had to drop the engine and remove engine mounts to replace wire. Engineers...

I'd start with checking your resistance between each coil ground and the bikes ground and then from ground to battery and the from coil to battery negative terminal.
