Such a very sad story. Sounds like he passed doing what he loved though.

With Beeville event registration open, I hope this event can still go on in his honor.

Any updates?
Friends are trying to decide which one to sign up for.

Sad circumstances, but trying to promote/participate in the sport still.

Last I heard, Hennessey was trying to take control again and do the 1-Mile event but nothing official only rumors right now....

I'd say if you just want to run 200, Beeville is fine....if you are really trying to go FAST either wait for Houston or get to Wilmington, Mojave, or Michigan for serious speeds on an ideal track.

Not for me. My friend who went 174 in the half in the "Excessive" Vette in May is asking, and two more friends who did Beeville last year (KB 4.0 GT500, BL GTR). The Vette is definitely wanting to run 200+.

We'd RATHER do Houston of course.

Due to Bill's death, Shannon and Jay have taken over...

Quote:
(Houston, Texas: August 18, 2013: For Immediate Release)

TOP SPEED 1-MILE RACING IN HOUSTON, TEXAS

The team of The Texas Mile that brought Top Speed 1-Mile Competitions to The Lone Star State will bring 1-Mile Racing to Houston in the Spring of 2014. Hennessey Performance is the Title Sponsor.

The folks of The Texas Mile will be conducting The Houston Mile events through its sister company, The U.S. Mile. It will be run with the same "heart and soul" and participant and fan focused values that this team has established over the past 10-years in Texas.

"The Fastest Modern Day Cars and Motorcycles will converge on Ellington Field in Houston. We are grateful for the opportunity that the Houston Airport System (HAS) and the staff of Ellington Airport has extended to the motor sports community. Ellington Field is already home to jet fighter pilots, NASA astronauts, and heroes from the US Military and Coast Guard. Now it will be home to the fastest modern day 1-Mile top speed vehicles on earth," said Shannon Matus, CEO of The U.S. Mile.

Dave Golder of Hennessey Performance commented, "I am very impressed with the U.S. Mile's team, their dedication to the sport and how thorough they are. I know this is going to be huge. I can't wait and I know we have chosen the right people for launching Top Speed 1-Mile Competitions in Houston."

The planning is underway for the inaugural Houston Mile presented by Hennessy Performance. The inaugural event will include a tribute to the late Bill Warner aka "Mr. 300" as he had begun plans for the initial Houston Mile events.

The U.S. Mile will also host The Houston Half-Mile during the annual Houston Aeros and Autos festivities at Ellington Field. Details on contact information, participant registration and opportunities for being a spectator, vendor, and sponsor will be released on the web site

www.houstonmile.com.

FIVE TOP SPEED EVENTS IN TEXAS IN 2014
In 2014, Texas race fans will enjoy having five (5) Top Speed events: The Texas Mile will continue hosting two (2) events at Chase Field in Beeville, TX and The U.S. Mile will host two (2) Houston Mile races and one (1) Half-Mile competition at Ellington Field in Houston, TX. To keep updated on Texas Top Speed Events, visit web sites www.houstonmile.com, www.texasmile.com and search on Facebook under The Houston Mile and The Texas Mile.

ABOUT THE EVENT ORGANIZER
The U.S. Mile is a DBA for the woman owned business, North America Project Integrators, Inc. The company is a project and event logistics coordinator and integrator. It is the sister company to J&S Matus Motorsports, Inc which created the world renowned event, The Texas Mile. J&S also operates a Porsche Race Team, TxSpeed. The principals of the companies, Jay and Shannon Matus, were born and raised in the Houston area and are thrilled to be conducting events in their home city.

ABOUT THE TITLE SPONSOR
Hennessey Performance (HPE) has been making fast cars go faster since 1991. It operates a 30,000 square foot workshop and showroom facility situated on 143 acres near Sealy, Texas (about 45 minutes west of Houston). The company also operates a showroom and installation facility located in Lake Forest, California. HPE offers a wide variety of dyno proven, track tested parts and upgrades for a variety of modern performance vehicles. Hennessey Performance is also the only tuner in North America that operates its own test track - Lonestar Motorsports Park.
