The best parts of that race were all the times stoner demascullinated rossi by passing him around the outside wide open over the crest through turn one.

Rossis pass at the cork screw was just him making a mistake out braking himself and had to cut the chicane.

For whatever reason Rossis most celebrated passes are those where he runs wide and knocks the other rider off line.

This was a great race but to fully apprietiate it requires going back and watching the whole race from the start and not the dorna supplied highlights.

I'd suggest going back and watching FP and qualifying too. Stoner had over half a second on Rossi all weekend and no one expected to see the race we got.......................

I remember on the Eurosport coverage the commentators during the grid walk said rossi had joked that the only way he could beat stoner was if he started 30 seconds ahead of him. What we got was a scrap from the beginning and a turning point in the season. No doubt Rossi steps it up for race day.

My opinions on rossi, fair or not, changed with the whole Ducati thing, so in hindsight when I've gone back and watched this race over or when i read his biography, it is through a different lens then I would have otherwise.

I didn't realize how hard stoner was riding that thing back then, the story was always the ducati was faster, tires better, superior electronics, etc. And then all those things that made Ducati better became what was wrong with the bike when rossi took over.

So when I see this race now it's with a grain of salt, cause rossi would not have even been fighting at the front on the bike stoner was riding. And we would've not gotten anything close to the race we did.
