Swapping brake lines

I am in the process of swapping my 2nd generation naked SV front end w/ an 06/07 GSXR front end. I added SVRP 3.5" clip-on risers to get somewhat closer to the original SV's handlebar height.

The OEM GSXR brake lines do not extend to where I want to place the clip-ons. I have never tried replacing brake lines before so I was hoping someone could help me answer a few questions:

-Are brake line connections universal, in other words are they typically independent of the caliper type?
-If they are not universal then would I need to specifically search for front brake lines that are for GSXR (NISSIN) radial calipers? I see a lot of GSXR 600 brake lines on Ebay but I am afraid they are all cut for the OEM length.
-How do I get brake lines that I can cut myself and how difficult would that be?

Thanks.

If you measure how long of a line you need as well as determine the angle of the banjo fittings I can make you up a set.

Would it be okay if I bring in the entire front end for you guys to look at and determine the optimal length? I am still waiting for the risers to come in so once they get here I can put them on along with the MC and bring the whole thing in...
