I think it'll be fine the way it is though, unless it's leaking something through that crack..

Nope, it is leaking....I don't think it's so much leaking from the crack, but rather the seal that goes around the main shaft that the front sprocket bolts on to.....regardless, I have access to my old motor (it's sitting on the shelf at Powersports of Houston) and I'm just gonna replace the part...the question now is, how much is Eric gonna charge me for a motor that used to be in my bike

glad you're ok... was this an old chain? Was the master link riveted or the clip style?

The chain was replaced in November and it was fit with a rivet style master link...not a clip on. FWIW, I put the chain on using a chain tool and I had logged nearly 5K miles on the chain before this incident. I also lubed the thing almost every 300 miles (after every SMR). It totally caught me be suprise.

Definitely worth putting a rivet style link on there. I have heard bad stories about the clip-ons, but I may have done something wrong when installing the chain, but it did last me 5K miles before it showed me any signs of failure.:BangHead:

Please, already got the ring...a whopping 1.5 ct. S1 diamond in a Past, Present, Future setting with a 14K white gold band. I'm on it Mr. Guns, just waiting to ask her while attending my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary up in Chicago in the middle of June. Plus I need a new car first

something cheap that has got AC that won't break down everyday....I'm half tempted to fix the AC in my ol' Eclipse, but I hate to invest $600 into a car that has 176K miles on it.

BTW, we totally whored this thread up...my bad. or should I say your bad.
