I'd be afraid making more holes might weaken them. They’re perforated leathers, right?

Keep the holes small and not too close and you won't lose too much tear and abrasion resistance. Your problem is getting to the other side of the leather, as there is usually a them mesh liner there. You need to use a plastic cutting board kind of surface in order for this punch to work properly.

If you don't mind some tedious work, you can save money and use a single or row punch. Just have to mark all your holes first.

Good luck and let us know how it works out.

Ya know how paper towels are perforated so they tear real nice?

Try not to make your leathers like that. Lol

Like the old saying goes, "I can cool off, faster than you can heal up".

Yeah I see the tightly grouped set of holes can compromise the integrity
of the suit... But I think it still might hold up better than mesh.

Nature made leather unlike most man-made fabric. Leather is full of long intertwining fibres that provide great flexibility and elasticity. When it is punctured, neighboring fibres take over the stress load so there is not a huge stress riser at the damage site. This is why leather is such an excellent material for riding gear.

Yes, any puncture is going to weaken the leather. It's a compromise. Look closely at the pros. Their suits are almost completely perforated. Staying cool so your brain & body can function at its peak is far more important than the risk of having a tiny bit less abrasion resistance.
