I started on an old air cooled 750 4cyl but im guessing that would bit a bit big for you.
A 250 or 300 prolly be best
Yeah, that's what a lot of people are telling me. To get a 250 as my starter.

You should look into a Rebel or Nighthawk 250, they make cafe kits that are pretty inexpensive. Also saw a ninja 250 cafe'd out that looked pretty good.

I always highly recommend to start on a 250. Do you have to start small? No, but it really does help you learn good handling habits. The SE guys can attest that a 250 can indeed keep up and ride houston highways just fine (come to a meetup and ask).

Remember that this is your first bike not your last. Once you get riding, you will figure out what you want to use the bike for and can make an informed choice on the second bike.

There are plenty of '08-'12 ninjas on the market for relatively cheap and they hold their value.

Wear your gear and have fun.
Thanks hun! I just want my first bike to be the right choice for me. It would be awesome to own a Ninja as a first bike, but I would most likely have easier handling on a 250-300 as a starter. Yet, I'm still unsure of the bike I want. Good to know I can always talk to yall at meetups or here if I have questions about certain things. And I will always wear my gear (it scares me when people dont >.< ) !!!!

I'd go with a Ninja 250 for sure. 2008 and up have the new body style.

They hold their resale value well, not too much power to get you in trouble, and they're more forgiving than a super sport. Hey, I started riding the streets on one

welcome!! and I have to agree w/ all the other posts.
Look into a Honda CBR 250R (Repsol looks nice) and/or the Kawasaki Ninja 300.
Not only due to smaller engine size, but they are also seat height friendly since most women are shorter. But hey I could be wrong!

I do like the Ninja 250s and 300s. I'm kinda tall for a female a little over 5'11

Well that is a pic of me to the left just minus the bike since b-day agreements were that I get the license before I get the bike. So when I get the bike I will upload pics
