Rider Down

Found out tonight that a friend was invovled in a motorcycle wreck sometime last night. Not sure of the details as to what happened but he's in ICU at UTMB. He has a broken arm, broken jaw, ruptured spleen and some other injuries. He was wearing a helmet but I was told that it shattered (not sure how accurate that is but it's what I was told). He rode a 2013 ZX6.

Seems like the spleen is a popular organ to damage in a motorcycle wreck.

Wishing for a speedy recovery!!!

My son had a m/c accident a few years back and tore his spleen nearly in two. He healed quickly; told the spleen is one of the easier organs to heal.

Still haven't gotten much info as they're only letting family in at this time. The surgery was to repair his spleen. I've been told his arm is pretty messed up but no real details.

Latest update is he has had surgery on his spleen and they ended up removing it. He's still unconscious but I think it's medically induced. He's had surgery on his arm and jaw, arm had compound fractures. He's also on a respirator because his breathing isn't up to the doctor's standard. The only gear he was wearing was a helmet. I bitched at him everytime I saw him without gear. His excuse was that it was hot.

People should be able to wear what they want without being bitched at. I would personally take exception if someone tried to tell me how to dress lol. I still wear my gear but I definitely get hot. I don't even ride much at all because of the heat. So I definitely understand that. Everyone will die anyway.

^It's America- you're allowed to not wear gear, and I'm allowed to call you out on it. We all have choices.

I'm glad it wasn't worse- best wishes for his recovery

Yes because calling someone out will do any good how? Instead of calling them out just force them to wear it. Actions speak louder than words. I'm just going to and moan and not doing anything about it. It gets nowhere. People are out there and still wearing no gear. I think we should go to their houses and berate them. Public service you know?
