Well I have and the R1 is a . Had one..hated it...it got stolen which was the best thing that could happen.

CBR=Bland; Reliable...yes but old technology.

ZX10R= most modern bang for the buck.

Ill tell you this...equal riders on a ZX10R, CBR1k, and R1......ZX10R killz em all!

Now money no object....get you a BMW S1000RR or HP4 .

And to finish this thought....Neon Samurai can probably out ride you maR1K. Come on out to a BORC ride and see for yourself! Im betting on the Speed Triple all day long!
Open invitation bro!

By then..4 years into the Gen 4 ZX10R design, both Yamaha and Honda should have a kill em all design.

If it's truly a first bike, wouldn't the big ZX possibly be too much? Just asking, not trying to start a debate. Unless he's owned multiple bikes such as yourself, he would probably never know the difference. I know my '06 R1 is behind the technology curve by quite a bit but it makes me smile every time I ride. , get 2 used bikes and make one a track and one a street queen. LOL.

I think that word "drive" might be the reason....

I have asked for test rides many times, they all say yes until I mention for a few hours

I let a buddy of mine ride it and he laid it down so after that i sold it to aguy on here. I really wana get back on and go to the track. I didnt get a chance to enjoy my self and for that week i learned some simple thing about riding.

In that case, get a 'busa..... a slow litre bike.

Go big or go home!

Who,
Look.....Ima give you my best advice.
Stick with a 600.....and that is pushing it.

Ride it for a while, and when you dump it ( and you will eventually do it), turn it into a track and then go buy a litre stoopit machine.

OR

Just buy a track bike and hone yer skills, get a nicer bike later.

Going to an R1 right out the gate is....well......not the brightest thing a man can do.

No debate here.
If its truly his first bike...then any of the aforementioned bikes are too much.

I dont think the extra 20hp of the ZX10 is the issue....its the first 150+hp on all of them that is going to be the problem here!
