07 HD XLC, bar and riser swap, lift, tuck, and cut

I bought an 07 HD XLC a while back and had it about a week before I changed up.

In the first week I changed the bars, and dropped a new set of pipes on it.

The only thing that threw me off was the stock custom riser. Man that thing is hideous.

After riding for a while I decided to change it up again.

I went out a dropped some coin on a gauge mount for a dyna, as well as some chrome switch covers, and new bar end mirrors.

The stock mirrors are okay if I wanted to put on lipstick, or check out my shoulders, but weren't worth the some seeing traffic in any other lanes. I could have went with mirror extensions but I thought those were gay,

I swapped out the risers and installed the new gauge mount but the gauge still stuck up too high for my liking and i didn't want to spend a bunch more for a piece with Roland Sands name all over it.

I took the stock dyna mount and cut off the bottom bolt holes, it just so happens it bolts right into some existing holes i already have in the triple tree.

Now I had to purchase a new wiring harness and indicator jewel for the indicator lights becuase the stockers don't fit in the Dyna mount. Well I got to looking and whipped out the trusty dremel and got to work. i saved myself about 100.00 by hoging it out, and dropping the original indicator in it's place.

Once I had the mount in place I reralized I had a mess of wires comming off of the switch housings that really looked like , so I decided to take the time and route everything internally.

It's a pain in the trying to remove and un pin each individual connector, so I hacked it off with a pair of wire cutters and just soldered everything together and heat shrinked it.

I was hesitant at first, but it only took a couple of hours and looks bad now.

So now the bars are done except for the mirrors,

I ordered a set od bar end mirros off of ebay for 30.00. The description said they would fit.

When it come time to install them the wedge that goes inside the bar stripped out before I could get it expand enough to fit the bar ID.

I tried contacting the ching chong I got them from but he was no help,

I came up with a solution, using a 1" expnasion plug, I cut them down to fit the ID of the bars. Then I threadeed on a coupling nut with a nut welded onto the end of it the same size for the bolt that originally locked the wedge inplace.

Once everything was cobbled together, I inserted the expansion plug coupling nut clusterfuck inot the bars, and tightened it down. Then I installed the bard ends using the factory supplied bolt.

The mirrors fit perfect, do not rattle or vibrate, and when position correctly, I can see everythign in the lane to my right and left, respectively.

After the bars were completely done, I decided to do a tank lift and wire tuck.

I ripped off the tank and canned all the plastic under there. I removed all the plastic pin connections and soldered each connection and shrink wrapped each wire. This allowed me to raise the tank 2" and clean up the back bone.

Overall I changed the appearance of the bike dramatically, and have a little less than 100.00 into everything.

If anyone is contemplating anything along these I'll be happy to help in any way.

The little jerry rig I have going on for mine works awesome and I have about 8.00 in each side. I was concerned with vibration and the little mirrors being blurry. The expansion plug absorbs any vibration and works great.
