Picked up and 05 sv650

So my friend got his first bike today and I had to drive it all the way from spring area to La porte. It was super comfortable but a little tall for me I was on my tip toes and I felt like I was really high up while riding it. The bars must not be for that bike because they hit the tank(nothing seems tweaked). They also seem really small too.

It's obviously been wrecked, I imagine both bar stops are broken off, pretty common.

He plans on replacing the bars. How much will it cost to replace those?

Sorry I should have been more clear, didnt feel like trying to quote and delete everything but the statement I was replying to from my phone. It's, in all likelihood, not an issue with the actual bars, the bike should have little tabs down below the triple that keep it from turning too far side to side. If you've never wrecked your bike look down below the bars and turn the handlebars all the way to the side, you will see what stops them.

Every time I see someone wearing one it reminds me of the time we were busting a crackhouse and one of the guys inside put on a life jacket before trying to run. Guess he thought it would help stop bullets betcha he was the only guy to ever show up at that jail in a life vest.

Most people do by leaning or turning the bars, but I suppose there may be other ways? How does your bike drive?

I have never driven anything with two wheels....except the time I pile drove it into a sand burm

You ride or operate a bike, you drive a car, truck, or trike.

Those are aftermarket sports bar kit and not the stock stuff. Not bad of a bike.

I was looking at that one... looked kinda beat, which had me worried about mechanical condition, but the price seemed right.

Welcome to the club.

Put some clip ons on it.

Oh and if it needs bar stops, just weld some on or tap some bolts into the frame.

Bars looked tweaked. Get some DirtBike bars, and check out svrider.com for ideas.
