Using a gun to stop a fist fight is murder, period.
Especially with incoming news now that the alleged assailant raised his hands and backed off when confronted with the gun.
I'm a huge supporter of the 2A but there are a bunch of asshats that should not have a weapon.
Unfortunately one guy paid with his life and one will pay by going to prison for a long time.

I'm assuming you are being sarcastic when you call the son "Gangsta". I understand wanting to protect your father, but he had no reason to pull a gun.

We do not know what happened to make the guy start fighting the man. , what if he tried to run him off the road? Would you not want to beat the out of him?

Patrick, you are absolutely right. However if I were in that situation , I don't know if I will have such a discipline to control myself against someone who follows to attack my own father. I might control myself if the guy raised his hands and his intention was to attack me, however I don't know if I wiould be able to sustain myself seeing somebody attack my father or my own family

If you know that about yourself than may I suggest not owning a gun.
If you know that you do not possess the judgement or discipline to use a weapon, you will save yourself a lot of grief by not owning one.
While gun ownership is a right, it's also a responsibility.

You are absolutely right, I can't argue with you on that . Just that we humans make mistakes and in specific circumstances you and I don't know how we can react to a special situation.

"Witnesses told investigators the two men got into a fight and then Braughton, the driver's son, came out of his house, shooting the man who had been on the motorcycle. Witnesses told investigators when the suspect came out of the house with gun, the victim put up his hands up and was starting to back away."

That's murder right there....his life (shooter) and the father was not in danger...

I agree that in this case it's murder, as the biker was backing down.

However, I've seen plenty of stories where an assault with fists resulted in a fatality or serious bodily injury. I wouldn't rule out pulling a gun to defend myself or a family member from assault.

If you wait until an whopping escalates to a fatality, it's too late to go back and get a do-over. Not saying I'm going to play executioner like this guy did, but blanket statements about never using a firearm over a fistfight aren't very useful here.

Considering the son wasnt in the altercation, not self defense. Pretty sure the Castle Doctrine doesn't event apply in this situation.

I didn't realize how much until I took the CHL course. Like you say, a lot of responsibility & to Stop the threat with your gun needs to be a last resort .
