I got pulled over last week, doing 47 in a 30 and DL expired a few days before, so I got to tickets. Hubby got pulled over by a motorcycle cop who was driving when he pulled him over and hubs argued with him that he cannot clock him while he's moving. They argued back and forth for 10mins over that and then he asked when was last time the radar was calibrated lol. He then signed ticket, threw clipboard at him and said, "here, let me contribute to your measley $30k salary!

Sure they can. They have vehicle mounted radar. On the traffic enforcement vehicles, they even have side radar mounted off the corner of the bumpers and can measure speed of vehicles in front, to the side, and behind the patrol car. The reading pops up on a screen on the dash.

The hand aimed ones are usually laser now.

yeah, it was Webster PD. the guy was about my age so no senior discount. also, he seemed very military in his actions, to the point and not a word off the beaten path. i didn't try sucking up or making friends. just let him do his job so i could get out of there.
i'll see what it costs to pay the fine and then weigh my options for defensive driving or getting a lawyer to make it go away.
part of the game we play but it still sucks...........

The cost of just paying the fine is never the full cost. Your insurance rates will go up. The market is so cut throat the companies will use whatever reason they can find to increase your rates. Always do something to keep it off your record.

If you were really speeding the best thing to do is just be cooperative. Sometime you get lucky and they let you off with a warning, if not lawyer up, 3-400 bucks once is better than doubling your insurance rates for like 5 years.
