probably dumb question but...

Just got done swapping a 90 cc lifan into my xr 50, wired up everything EXCEPT the kill switch, and I have no spark.

Reason I didn't wire the switch being the new CDI has pin connectors, and the kill switch I had has blade connection.

Would the kill switch not being connected cause it not to have spark??

Did you jump the wires?

Depending on how the switch is configured it could be the issue.

and all the switch is is a push button, but I'm thinking it might complete a circuit when connected, and break that circuit when disconnected OR the button being pushed down.

Thinking it might be in "fail safe" mode with the switch unhooked.

I know on two of my bikes the switch is normally open. So if the switch is not there it will still run. Easiest way is to jumper wire the two together and see if you have spark.

It Lives!

I got fed up and put my old cdi/coil back on. I also put my old carb back on since the new cable didn't have enough cable to let the spring push the needle all the way down in the new carb :| fired up first kick.

I also put my old exhaust back on because the new exhaust I got didn't have any mounting brackets for the muffler. Thanks ebay.
