$300 custom map

About to tune my bike. Power commander with quick shifter that I'm installing. Local shop around here is tuning it and charging this. You guys think it's to much or about right?

I've had dyno tunes for cars before and $300 sounds about right.

I have no experience as to what bike tuners are charging though.

Metric would be my choice for two reasons: 1) Andy is a bike Guru 2) In house Dyno.

www.metricmotorcycles.com/

The pricing sounds about right.

+1 again.

I had my bike "tuned" at a place in houston (PM if you want to know the shop)... and it never felt right.

I took it to Andy at Metric and he showed me that the guy had simply tuned 100% throttle, and a few points in between. He also pointed out that the dynojet numbers were "corrected" eg. inflated.

He reduced fuel at almost every throttle/rpm point and it made a HUGE difference in smoothness, as well as peak power.

He's not cheap, but guaranteed to be the best.

PS- unless you have a custom exhaust- the dowlnoadable maps are VERY good. IMHO not worth the custom tune cost unless you are racing.

I do have a custom exhaust. Full yosh TRS. Velocity stacks, PCIII, AND quick shifter on the way. Theres no downloadable maps for mt setup from yosh except the European gas setups. I dont feel like running rich so Im just going to get it tuned. Good thing is that price everyone is saying is consistent so im happy. Thanks everyone.

When I said custom, I meant custom (one-off)- not aftermarket.

I would fully expect dynojet to carry a map on their website for your exhaust setup. They have dozens for each bike. Your velocity stacks may change things a bit in the midrange, but probably something that could be tweaked by using adding 1-3% fuel in the mid-rpm zone.

PS- if it's for the 03 1000- look at the maps 315-014, and 315-024.

Even if you still get it tuned, you can use the maps as a base and see what was actually changed during the tuning.

I though about doing that, but just said screw it. I have been wanting to get it tuned anyway. I did call dynojet about the 315-014 map a few days ago and he told me the same thing about running rich like I mentioned before.

hope he knows what he's doing, just cuz he tunes bikes doesn't mean he knows what he's doing.

try getting local feedback of his services. he can make things worse then OE mapping.

For 300 there better be part throttle tuning being done

Yeah already have the pipe, but not the PC. Getting ready to buy A PCIII and quickshifter. I wouldn't mind getting a bazazz, but I'm not dedicating this bike to the track just yet.

Ill find out when I'm ready to bring it down. Not even really sure what the difference is in throttle tuning anyways. Not too familiar with it.
