97' 900RR Carberated/not FI

hello all, so heres my prob, on the freeway @ 70mph I speed up then pull the clutch in and coast, with out letting the clutch out I give it gas and its off. i let the clutch out and restart the bike and continue riding. why dose it die? also I am missing 1 or 2 screws that connect the air box to the carbs, would this be the prob, an air leak. I plan to relace these screws that are lost.

how does it idle?rough or like a new bike . raise your idle a bit see if it helps. your carbs could be out of sync(not a big deal). also look and see if on the engine side of the carbs if they seat right in the intake boots.

from the airbox to the carbs wouldnt be a prob though unless airflow is blocked.

Could be too lean because the airbox is loose, allowing too much air in.
What RPM is the bike idled at?
