speedometer display

I just got an 09 Triumph Daytona and when the guy was going over the bike with me, the only thing he couldn't explain was the speedometer display. I went and hit Triumph up and I was able to get the owners manual for my bike. I looked through it and can't find anything about the speedometer display. Maybe I'm having a dopey week but can anyone help me to understand this thing. Anything will be greatly appreciated.
