They did not drop a leg at 210 F'n miles an hour.....

That is a (guessing from being on it) 50-60 mph turn,.......maybe? at the most?

Go out, pin your bike, stick out your leg......see how well it stay beside the bike.

Do any of you even go over 80mph?

I watched several answers from Rossi on this....one common one "it feels natural".....no benefit other than maybe mental.

Physics is not an equation in some of these answers

What the are you talking about? No one is saying the stick their leg out at full pin. They do it under hard braking from a fast straight? I used turn 1 at cota as an example where they do it. What does me going over 80 have anything to do with the subject. Tell us again how your an expert on the subject?

Ive seen them stick out the opposite leg from the turn before though.

So far the "lets the bike squirm without upsetting rider" seems to be the most logical, but probably wasn't "intentional" to start doing it for most.

, if Rossi says "it feels natural" then thats a good enough reason for me.

I always assumed it was to cool their . lol.
Thats why i do it on the street sometimes. (not as drastic)

From MY experience (which is more than 1-3 months BTW), it is mental.
If something you do or wear, maybe even think, while racing puts you in the zone then by all means do it. I used to ONLY run one tire while racing. Was it better? not at all, but it made me comfortable, so I ran it.
Rossi was the first rider I have ever seen hang out the leg. I THINK, what works for the best must work for me, I will do what he does. Make sense?

I really tried hanging my leg off and hard braking....just to see. My conclusions were....nothing. BUT, I am not on a 2 million dollar MotoGP bike either, and I am not one of the fastest idiots in the world. I do however constantly look to see how I can push the envelope, what will give me the edge, what will stand me out from the crowd. This is where I look to physics.
I cant find a physical benefit anywhere......just mental, which is 60% of a racers success.
