Friend Wrecked and Now in ICU

Prayers go to family. My friend wrecked his brand new bike. It was a 07 zx6r his first bike, I told him not to get. Right now hes in ICU with a neck brace and poles holding him together. The only gear he had was a helmet and gloves, because he did not have the extra 100+ dollars for a jacket, boots, and other gear needed. The only thing that saved him was his helmet. Please let this be a reminder to all of those thinking I can start off on 600 and it wont happen to me. Crawl before you walk. Also remember to always ALWAYS wear you gear.

I just talked to his sister and i think she said at the intersection of technology forest and research forest. As for the wreck she said he turned in front of a car. She also said that she does not think speed was a factor.

I was not with him, I was at work.

I know it can happen on anything but your chances go up when you have the power, and no skills. I am a strong believer in not starting on a 600 especially when your young. I started on the Gs500 because I knew I loved speed way to much. I knew I would probably be stupider on a 600. In seeing what happens when people crash at speed, I slowed way down and just cruise around now.

The 600 my second bike and am still scared a little of the power of it. You can be the most carful person but things still happen, and I do believe that him being inexperienced may have played a role in this to. The whole reason he got a bike in the first place was because he wrecked his car.

My buddy just picked up his first sport bike this weekend. (07' R6) but he's taking it really slow. Signing up for MSF and getting his endorsement. But for now Im escorting him to a large parking lot where he practices.

Agreed. It's not about the bike, it's about the rider.

Dang...motohouston is already turning u into an a$$...
Ur definitely not like this in person.
One can even say...he chose his destiny by getting on a motorcycle vs a car...cant sympathize with him...is that how we should think??
