I always run PR3s (Pilot Road 3) on my R1 4,500 miles +/-

BT-023 on the rear, BT-016 Pro on the front. And that combo is because I put a pair of the 16 Pro's on the VFR800, and 4000 miles later the rear was shot. The front still looks good at almost 8000.

If you have a chance to get a set of PR3's ... grab them!!

PR3 and PP3 are 2 different tire styles. The PP3 is the replacement for the Pures.

Some ST tires like the PR3 and RS2 are more expensive than SS tires. Me thinks tire companies are gouging us because they figure more tire life means more value and net worth the the consumer, so they overcharge on the ST tires.

That said, if you mostly commute and occasionally hit the twisties, you'd be better off with PR3 and RS2. You can almost do a level 1 track day with PR3. If you're over-riding PR3's limits on the streets, you are pulling some stunts that you really shouldn't be doing on public roads.

But, if you just want tire bragging rights...

ST tires are a few dollars more, but if you get 2x the mileage, Is it really gouging?

I doubt the ST tires cost any more to produce than SS tires, even considering R&D cost. If tire life should determine price, then cruiser and touring tires should cost proportionally more, but they don't. That's the case because there is always a trade-off for tire wear. You are getting less of one trait and more of another.

buy which ever one is the cheapest... any of them will give you all the performance you can legally use while commuting on the streets of Houston.

Awesome tires a lil more expensive than some of the poll tires but worth it.

Anyone have a good website to order some tires from? Or a local dealer that is has pretty reasonable pricing? And would maybe even mount and balance them for free if I bought from them
