state inspection

my rear brake sucks, and the caliper needs a rebuild probably. would that keep me from not passing inspection? What I found online just said brakes.

Thanks

I have never had to do more than show the front end dive to prove brakes work

I have never had to do anything more than blinkers and honk the horn. I guess they figure if I rode there I had to stop at some point including when you came to a stop in front of the stall.

I've never had an inspector check that the rear brake funtions. At most they just looked to see that when the pedal was depressed the brake light actually lit up. FWIW, the years I was an inspector I never checked stopping ability.

I WANT to just for the simple fact the $14.50 could save a lot of hassle. Problem is my aftermarket rearsets don't have a brake light switch. Soooo, I ride without an inspection.

This. I've never had to prove that the brakes work, just the light.

Me either, they generally just walk around the bike, push buttons and see if they get desired results.

I told them to stick it on my swing arm, but I really want them to put in on back of helmet.

He is wrong. Worded that it has to be at the rear of the bike. I have read the law a few times when its been up for debate.

Its fine on the rear of the swing arm
