Some families went on vacations, ours went on motorcycle rides. My dad has rode all my life, and we went and got my first street bike right before I turned mom wasn't too pleased, but she knew it was coming sooner or later. Then my little brother got his when he was 16. Even my mom has her license, but she rides with my dad.

That being said, I ride because its freeing. I can get away from anything that may be going on in my day to day life, and just focus on one thing....helps clear the head.

It has called to me ever since I was a kid. Unlike the common "dad, uncle, brother, mother rode" theme, I didn't have anyone influence me, it was just a desire I had. Parents wouldn't let me have a moto when I was young (I really wanted a dirtbike or 3~4 wheeler), so I got one the first chance I had as an adult and haven't looked back since. Someone started a thread a while back about riding a fast bike slow vs. a slow bike fast. I think I am in the fast bike slow category because there is something about the feeling you get when you are already out accelerating everything on the road, and knowing it is just the tip of the iceberg.
