i need a job

well on 3/28 i have to go back to work its been a fun 6 months off but now it time to rejoin the workforce .only thing is i have been an electrician for the past 10 years and im debating on whether or not to go back. its good money but im having trouble trying to find a company i want to work for.im a journeyman electrician, i also went to welding/pipefitting school and trying to decide which way to go. All the skills pay well so its not money it about me finding something challenging so i don't get bored and get unhappy. i dunno why im posting this but i guess any feedback would be appreciated....

Food for thought, welders are a dime a dozen around here and don't make very good money unless you invest in a rig and work out of town a lot.

start your own company. I know this may sound stupid but I worked for a guy out in az in 94, 95 putting up ceiling fans and light fixtures. We charged something in the range of 65 for a simple install. we also installed wire and fixtures in older houses that did not have the wire pre run. His company is doing great now and he quit the fire dept where I met him to do it full time.

we hire all levels of electricians, but journeymen are around $25-26/hr.........i find it hard to believe anybody could make it to $130k at that rate.

i can give you a lead, but it's not gonna lead to your past $. it;s working out in the plants. and can be steady work, but you have to stick it out. and some if not all travel might be required.

Ever thought about nuclear. South Texas Project should be hiring in 08. Yes it is a ways off, so it wont help now but if you are interested in the long term. Work is EASY, 4/10's with one or two outages a year and overtime as required. If you have worked in chemical or petro you know how dirtly those plants are, nuclear is very clean. And dont believe the hype about radiation. People get more radiation from everyday stuff then people that work in nuclear power.
