I think part of fitting in any group involves a little adapting on your part, chances are nobody rides the exact same way as you do, specially on a group ride, you have a greater chance to learn and adapt to the overall group rather than have the whole group learn your pace and adapt to you. In my case, i sometimes ride in the fast group, sometimes in the slow group, i can adapt to each group's pace fairly quickly and at the end of the day i still have a blast, it's more about hanging out than anything else. My recommendation is if you cant find a group specifically tailored to your kind of riding, then ride by yourself which is also enjoyable, but if you just put a little effort on your part to adapt to others, you will find yourself fitting in just fine on any group ride.

i have two buddies that used to live close by but had to move away for work. they have very similar riding skills and habits and the three of us would get together for some really good rides. and i still have friends with similar riding styles but they're on the other side of the city and it sucks having to include 140 miles thru the city, in my days ride. not to mention conflicting schedules.

i'm lucky in that i get to commute 150 miles each week without going into the city. and another 50+ miles each week running errands. so if i don't do any designated "joy riding" i still get my fix. it would just be nice to have someone with a similar mindset to do some long haul rides with and not have to ride thru the heart of the city to do it.

and the poster above is right, my age is affecting how i feel about riding, all together. i do find my aggression and my desire to ride hard is decreasing.

i do get to do a few group rides each year with my ZRX friends and those always turn out fun.

oh well, i guess it's all just part of life and riding.

Make it and I'll be there

I don't like the "B.O." type of rides

Very timely thread. I just moved to the area from Indiana. I have been riding for 38 years, taught MSF courses for 10 years. I have a Bandit 1250S and enjoy the twisties but I also enjoy the scenery. I am not a street racer, but I do not like to drone.

I do not know the roads very well yet, and don't want to ride through the city. I live in Rosenberg, so going into downtown Houston is not going to happen. I would like to find some good roads in the surrounding area and or meet up with others of similar riding interests.

I'll tell you where you fit in - right with the rest of the bow tie wearing, purple peg bike riding, taco bending, washed up, has been bracket racer, insulation installing 's that take up all the bandwith with their whining. You ought to be banned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For what it's worth, when I started riding on the 2fiddy, at the beginning, I rode with lots of group rides in the 'slow group' (appropriately enough). A few months in, I had more weekday times to ride so I would post up a day or two before planning to ride. There would be at least 2 or 3 people show up to my rides, and as much as 10. THIS WAS A 250 LEADING THE RIDE.

With that said, if you just want to ride, and want someone to ride with, post it up. The only reason why people might not be able to come is your location lol. HOWEVER, some people also don't mind riding a new route. You might know a route in that side of town that people might be interested in (I sure as would be).
