Calculations thrown out the window.

I started a thread about how my new (lower) gearing was going to get me in trouble. Multiple people chimed in about how far my speedo was off. Indicating 98 really was 80ish.

Well. I was cruising on the beltway this morning. Indicated 77mph. All of a sudden, I get lit up. I was clocked at 80mph. I guess my speedo is pretty much spot on. I feel like I am going so slow, now. Lol.

Where's the speedo pickup on a 954? The reason most sportbikes are off is because the pickup is on the front sprocket. However, every once in a while you'll find a bike (like the aprilia rsv) where the pickup is on a wheel which then only changes due to a tire size change (and it's minor at that).

He was cool. He said I know you saw me. I was wondering if you had no respect for me or what. He slapped me on the back and said get it checked out before you get a whole bunch of tickets.

I was thinking it was the other (logical) way. I guess my 104-107 mph cruise in yesterday was really 110, not the 90ish I was expecting. Lol.

smart phone?
Get a GPS speedo app (I use Speedview on my android), set it to log "Highest". Go cruise at 100mph for a bit, but NOT over that. Then check the highest logged speed... wala... % off.

Depending on bike, you might toss it up onto the dash, probably at night so you can see it. Then just watch it.

Duct tape to my visor!

I'll have to try it this weekend. Of course, I will figure out my speed at 65, as I would never knowingly go above that.

That makes the percentage hard to figure.
100 is a nice round number

It also has a "HUD" mode... shows everything in reverse... toss it on the dash at night and it reflects off the windsheild. Not amazing... but neat.

Get this:

I don't answer phone while riding, but it's nice to have it up near the dash for other purposes. Speedo app is a good one. Even a compass app is nice sometimes without needing full-blown GPS.

I use Ulysse Speedo Android app. Has compass, gps, HUD, app shortcuts to map and music. Keeps automatic tripometer reports for the day, yesterday, week, month, and has a race counter with 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile. Best feature is you can change the color to match your bike. Picked up waterproof bike mount at walmart for 20$. See how long till I lose my phone..
