What to do when a cop is tailgating

So this morning I was on my way to work headed on 290. I was cruising at a cool 85 when I see a state trooper in the far right lane I let off the gas a bit but didn't break. He then cuts off a car to get directly behind me and starts trailing for about a mile down. I just kept thinking what is he doing I switch to the far left lane and to my surprise he pulls up beside me and tries to race he kept inching forward and slowing down wth. I finally downshifted into third letting out a loud howl as the gsxr exhaled he then smile and gave me a thumbs up I'm guessing he was a fan of the m4 or a fellow rider anyways thanks for pulling over that gay mini cooper not being an .

In between bikes

if they ever tail, they usually run plates first (remember, smaller plates and numbers to see, often hidden).
So just keep steady pace and he will decide to break off some time. If you start doing funky stuff, you are playing Russian roulette. May be decent cop, who likes bikers, or you may have a cop that makes it a point to nail every biker out there (encountered a couple of those in Austin). So be cool, do your thing and stay on good side of law and you will be fine.
