So who here

uses an mp3 palyer while riding? Im thinkin about buying a nano to use while riding but want to get some feedback first on your experiences with them. For those that do use them, does it affect your ability to keep a clear head while riding? Do you feel distracted? Do you feel less safe when listening to music? Give me some input please!

i have a shuffle, tried about 3 different types of headphones but none of them fit. i am going to use it as soon as i find the headphones that go around your ear.

Is this for your Oro Norteno or Los Tigres Del Norte?

The only ear phones that work for me are the ones that wrap around your ear AND have the piece that goes around the back of your neck too.

Not these exact ones, but something like these...

I'll use one out in the country or wherever there's not much traffic. I don't turn it up too loud so I can still hear other stuff. The earbuds seem to block a lot of the wind noise so that's nice. But on group rides or with the crazy traffic around here, I don't use one.

i had mine cranked really loud, with this little inline headphone amp, and i began to act very donkey... so I stopped using them. plus, if i were to keep that up, i'd end up deaf quicker than I am supposed to.

I use a shuffle while riding as well. Haven't had any issue. I used some Nike headphones that I got from Walmart for like $10. They actually hook over your ear and stay on pretty good when putting on your helmet. And you can even hear it at good speeds.

Tried them.
Don't use them for the reasons that you mentioned.
I do feel potentially distracted and less safe.
All it takes is that momentary lapse of sharpness to ruin your day/week/life.
It's no different than the lady next to me on the cell phone.
Not worth doing something that could make me think about anything else other than what I'm doing on my bike.
If I'm riding with you and I know you're jammin' on a MP3, I'll give you a little more gap.
This is my opinion.
When I get bored I just sing to myself.

Word of Warning to you... Some radio stations that have car dealer commercials come on with sirens and alarms going off... first time I was listening to the radio instead of MP3 on my player. it scared the chit out of me.. didnt know which way to go.. so you have been warned

Thats funny. I tend to sing to myself too thats why im asking these questions. Its just that sometimes i ride for a while by myself and wish i had some music playing. I almost feel like it would make me enjoy my ride more than i already do but i dont want to distract myslef and since ive never used one while riding im not sure if it will distract me.

I use one, in the country. Cheap little Sandisk works great. I found some foam ear phones that fit in your ear and they haven't come out yet.

A little Rob Zombie helps kick it up on the twisties!!
