I've been wondering the same. Not sure what the expected numbers were though. I wonder how many bikes came through there over the weekend, there was a ton in the parking lots.

I was speaking to the Manager of sales for Cota on Friday morning. He told me he was expecting 60k for Sunday. They feel that is as well as can be expected with three American GPs this year. The thought is not enough Motorsport fans in the US for three and Indy might be on the chopping block.

They told the track workers that the total for the weekend was 150K with 61K of that being Sunday. I believe that the 61K for sunday was about 9K short of the original projections for the event...I know the grandstands at turn 15 were basically empty friday and almost no one walking around GA... Saturday the grand stands at 15 never got over 1/3 full, but Sunday was loaded up.
Historically the first year at a new track is their highest attendance and it goes down a bit from that... they are hoping that is not so for cota... and yes there are rumors that Indy may go away and hopes that if it does the sunday attendance at cota would go up to 110K... but based on our actual turn out they may rethink that.

..yeah, but Fri am was what? like 45F in the sun?
Freaked out many of the riders who were expecting at least 60s.
Friday was cold and windy most day.
Sat, much much better. Sun little colder than Sat but still good.

Overall, they will sure come back and Indy is history after their contract expires, that is a given. Their contract runs out 2014, and then I can see bye bye for sure.

My kid is already planning our trip when he turns 16 in 2 years. LOL. He said he wants to get a bike and we can both ride to the races.

So mr safe-it-all splits lanes.. nice..
Any sort of event attendance in such crowds always denotes that a bike is not the best means of transportation. . Such as riding in rush hour.

I disagree, 3 of us in my truck, got to the track early each day, ez-up over the bed, and coolers full of food and "beverages" tailgated before the events, ate lunch on the tailgate, then tailgated after the events while traffic died down, never sat for longer than 10 minutes the whole weekend!

you know I didn't realize you could go in and out until sunday. You did it right, and next time I will be more prepared.

It did half as well as F1. Which, considering F1 hadn't been in the states AT ALL for a while...I think is pretty good.
